How to Export Outlook for Mac OLM File to MS Outlook PST File Manually Free

Outlook is a very useful application which is developed by Microsoft. It is useful for send/receive emails, managing contacts & calendar, sharing of information in groups, creating tasks and more. It application is support for both OS platforms like Outlook for Mac and MS Outlook for Windows. But both saving data with difference file format such as Outlook for Mac saves in .olm file and MS Outlook saves in .pst file format.

OLM file is mainly used only by Outlook for Mac. It cannot be opened in MS Outlook in Windows Operating System, because Windows version uses .pst files.

User wants to export Mac Outlook (.olm) file to Windows Outlook (.pst) file manually

If anyone wants to export from Mac to Windows then needs to export OLM to PST manually through IMAP account.

This procedure can be done in following steps:

• Setting up an IMAP Gmail account.
• Set up Outlook for Mac with your IMAP account.
• Transferring your emails from your Outlook for Mac account to IMAP account.
• Synchronize the IMAP account with Windows MS Outlook and copy the emails.

I) Setting up an IMAP account

To set up IMAP account on Google Mail or Gmail, follow the procedure:

1. Create a new Gmail account or login Gmail account exists.
2. Click on the “Gears” icon and select “Settings”.
3. Click on “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.
4. Click “Enable” IMAP Access.
   
   
5. Click to allow “Less Secure Apps”

              a)   Go to your Google account (https://myaccount.google.com/)

              b)   Click Security Tab on the left navigation panel

              c)    Click Turn on access.(Less Secure Apps) on the bottom of the page

II) Set up Outlook for Mac with your IMAP Gmail account

1. Launch Mac Outlook
2. Select Tools >> Accounts >> Emails
3. Enter the Email address and Password of Gmail account and Select type “IMAP” and enter the incoming and outgoing server name.
4. Then Click on “Add Account” button. Your Gmail account is configured on Outlook

III) Transferring Emails from Outlook for Mac account to IMAP Gmail account

To transfer your emails data from Mac Outlook account to the IMAP Gmail account, follow the steps mentioned below for the same:

1. Launch Outlook for Mac.
2. Right-click on mailbox folder that you want to move. Click “Move” >> Copy to Folder.
   
3. Now open your Gmail account, Go to Gear Icon on top right position of Gmail account and after that select settings option. Click on Labels Tap then click on Create New Label and type of IMAP folder name.
   
4. After copying the selected mailbox folder to IMAP mailbox, you need to click Send/Receive button to move your Outlook for Mac data to IMAP folder.

IV) Synchronize Data from IMAP Gmail account to MS Outlook

The final step is synchronizing your MS Outlook client on Windows PC with the same IMAP account you created in Gmail.

1. Open MS Outlook on Windows
2. Set up the same Gmail IMAP account you created on your Windows Outlook client.
   
3. Move the emails from the IMAP account to your MS Outlook Folder by dragging and dropping.

This way your OLM data is exported to PST manually.
